"Are you listening? The fabric has much to teach us...", Yohji Yamamoto

It's about time I show some of the work which has overtaken my life for the last couple of months! One of the biggest projects we've undertaken the last term is Conceptual Design. In groups, we were assigned different conceptual designers to research. My group was given Yohji Yamamoto. Yamamoto is a Japanese conceptual designer who, in his own words, "hates fashion". From our research I have discovered that fabric is of the most importance to Yamamoto's work and designs. As well as the research section of our project, we also carried out further research into the trends of Autumn/Winter 2012/13 in order to devise our own trend from which we could individually design collections from. I have included a few images from our research journal below...

After completing our research, we then began our own personal design projects. I started by analysing the shapes in Yohji Yamamoto's past collections. In the end, I had designed a 10 outfit collection, which is demonstrated by my specification sheets and illustrations below. These were all done on Adobe Illustrator. Unfortunately, I was working on these four files when my hard drive began to corrupt so they have saved with some slight corruptions within the images themselves and therefore do no appear as I had originally drawn them. This is my FIRST attempt at illustrations however, and I am very pleased with the results....corruptions and all!
